- Mondays are Nature & Art Days! Each Monday, kids will come to camp ready to spend time outside making art. This could be playing handmade instruments outdoors, building snow sculptures, or painting an outdoor mural. On days when we cannot spend time outside, we’ll bring nature into the rec building to celebrate the outdoors and use our artistic talents. Some activities planned are leave printing, animal track stamp-making, and making bird feeders. Campers will also have access to our art supplies to unleash their creativity.
- Tuesdays are Science & Game Days! Each Tuesday we have science/STEAM projects lined up like flour stress balls, making our own playdough, creating our own slime, and erupting volcanos! Afterward we will have a game setup for the kids play, usually a tournament style with levels for everyone to have fun at! We will teach and play chess tournaments, paper airplane contest, outdoor obstacle course, and board game bonanza!
- Wednesdays are Thinking Outside the Box Days! Each Wednesday we will have a cooking project that each kid can safely contribute to making and then will enjoy for snack! Examples of the cooking projects include: no-bake cookies, doughnut apples, rec trail mix, and frozen banana pops! We will then wrestle with puzzles, riddles, and overcoming obstacles to test our individual and team skills. Kids will try out written, verbal, and physical games, such as jigsaw puzzles, wordsearches.
- Thursdays are Field Trip Days! We plan to visit the Waterbury Town Library, Waterbury Ambulance station, Stowe Parks & Recreation Playground, and Cold Hollow Cider! We will also be getting a special visit the Fire Department to show off their vehicles and to talk about public safety in our town. Any additional costs for a trip (ie: money for cider, doughnuts, swimming) will be conveyed prior to the trip but transportation is always covered.
- Fridays are Movie & Sports Days! We will end the week of school with a fun kid-friendly movie/documentary and then head outside for a seasonal activity. During the winter months, our outdoor activity will be skating & snow fort building! Pair up will be sports that seasonally line up with our weather outside. Some examples of what we have on the docket this month are ping-pong, dodge ball in the snow, hockey/free skate, and broom ball on the ice!
