Job Description
JOB TITLE: Parks Seasonal Groundskeeper
PAY: $19 per hour, Seasonal Part or Full-Time, April through October, 40 hours per week Monday – Friday, with Friday afternoons off in the summer months. Part time hours are an option in the spring and fall months.
SUPERVISOR: Assistant Rec Director
PURPOSE OF JOB: The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of physical labor tasks on all facets of the parks, buildings and grounds facilities, as well as the landscaping of all Town facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.

  • Other duties may be required and assigned. Reports directly to Parks & Recreation Department Foreman and/or Superintendent with daily contact and instruction.
  • Performs a wide range of grounds, landscaping and related duties, including maintenance of parks, fields and other recreation facilities and Town ground and landscaped areas.
  • Performs maintenance and physical improvement work for the Town Recreation Path.
  • Operates light equipment such as mowers, tractors, and hand-held equipment. Responsible for vehicle and equipment maintenance of department resources.
  • Works on grounds and landscaping in the Town’s cemeteries.
  • Promotes a safe and respectful work culture through positive role modeling and strong communication skills; immediately puts a stop to any speech or behaviors which are discriminatory or otherwise conveys disrespect to others.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in general landscaping. Some experience working with small engines, carpentry and plumbing. Must have experience operating light equipment, or be able to learn it quickly. A valid Vermont driver’s license.

Job Title: Pool Staff                                                               Department: Recreation
Status: Hourly, Seasonal                                                      Wages: Front Desk starts at $15/hr
Job Summary: The Waterbury Pool Staff will work together to oversee daily operations and safety at our municipal pool. Front Desk staff will be responsible for checking in pool visitors, maintaining an organized lobby space, staffing the sales kiosk (food and items), and other related tasks assigned by the Pool Director.
We are seeking qualified, engaged, and motivated individuals. Candidates should be ready to commit to an 8-week summer program with a full or part time work schedule, plus training, prep, and cleanup time.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Front Desk Staff will:
  • Have a positive attitude and communication with parents/guardians, counselors, and campers
  • Greet and assist all pool guests
  • Record every visitor for daily visits, sales, and historic record keeping
  • Lead sales kiosk for snack bar and swimming accessories
  • Maintain a tidy pool house
Required Skills/Abilities:
All Pool Staff will need to have:
  • Strong communication skills
  • Desire to stay organized, be patient and practice problem solving
  • The ability to work in a team
  • The ability to serve, communicate with, and work with a diverse population
Education and Experience:
