Why a Community Center? The community center project grew out of a Waterbury Community Summit hosted by Revitalizing Waterbury in January 2018. At the summit, attendees broke into groups including social vibrancy, arts and culture, recreation, economic vitality, and more. One of the ideas that emerged from several groups was some sort of community center. The Town of Waterbury has a number of organizations and facilities that serve an active population ranging from very young children to senior citizens. Some of these organizations, including the Town’s Recreation Program, have outgrown their space and are seeking to partner to create a new community center that would provide more adequate shared space, facilities and programs to meet the community’s needs. The feasibility study project is funded with a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and local matching funds from the Town’s CDBG revolving loan funds.Steering CommitteeSteve Lotspeich | Town of Waterbury - Community PlannerNick Nadeau | Town of Waterbury - Director of Parks & RecreationMark Forkey & Phil Walbridge | Waterbury Area Senior Center - Board MembersNaomi Alfini | The Children's Room - CoordinatorKaren Nevin | Revitalizing Waterbury - Executive DirectorChris Balzano & Tom Bachman | gbA (Architecture and Planning)Public Meeting #1NOTES: Click here for notes from the first public meetingPublic Meeting #2PRESENTATION: Click here for the presentation from the second public meetingNOTES: Click here for notes from the second public meetingPublic Meeting #3February 4th, 2020 | 6:30pm - 8:30pm | Waterbury Municipal Center (28 M.
