LIFEGUARDS
Each swim lesson will be staffed by a Town of Waterbury certified lifeguard. Each lifeguard will be trained and/or already hold the waterfront module in addition to their existing American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard certification with First Responder First Aid/AED. All swim instruction is overseen by Keith Mckenna, LGI, WSI (Waterbury Pool Director) and additionally supervised by the Director of Parks & Recreation for the town.

SWIM INSTRUCTORS
Each swim lesson will be run by a Town of Waterbury swim instructor. Each instructor either holds a WSI or is supervised by a current WSI. Our lessons use the Learn-To-Swim curriculum from the ARC and is logged with the ARC upon successful completion (or failure) of the lesson. All lifeguards are overseen by Keith Mckenna, LGI, WSI (Waterbury Pool Director) and additionally supervised by the Director of Parks & Recreation for the town.

ENTERING THE PARK
One parent is allowed in the park for each registered participant. Through a special use permit obtained by the town, the cost to enter the park for swim lessons will be absorbed by the town. You may not swim before your lesson, but may stay and swim at the waterfront after your lesson is over until the park is closed. You will receive a permit upon successful registration of any lesson that will gain you access into the park, starting no sooner than 15 minutes before your lesson until the park closes.

PARTICIPANTS, COVID POLICIES & LIABILITY
Each lesson has a max of 8 participants per class (10 for aqua tots). Current physical distance guidelines allow for close contact for water instruction as the CDC states that there is no evidence that COVID-19 can spread to people through large bodies of water. Once out of the water, participants will be asked to physical distance and abide by the current orders in effect by the governor. Each participant signs a waiver that releases liability in the event of injury or illness (COVID-19 falls under this) in order to participate in our lessons. In the event of an outbreak, either in our program or at the waterfront with the public, swim lessons will immediately be suspended until further notice. Additionally, swim lessons are subject to change pending new orders from the state or CDC that impact the current structure of our program.

* Adjustments and discounts will be applied during checkout if applicable. *
